Are you good enough to get into heaven?

The following email conversation was held between myself and another individual that found my website and filled out my “Contact” section.   Other than cleaning up some of the language and removing the individuals name and email, the content has been left in tact.

I come to you in desperation. I have had no faith for pretty much all of my “adult" life. Ever since I've found out that the world is a crying sh*thole, disgusting filthy with horrible doings and evil, I have a real bad outlook on it. I know I should be more positive, but I just can’t find the light. I've never felt him, I've begged, I've prayed, but nothing. I can't have faith for something I can't feel, its a joke. I'm scared, I feel so alone. All I want is to feel the presence that all these f**king christians, catholics, jews and whatever claim to feel. They have a f**king smile on their face because they know when they die, everything will be ok....I on the other hand, do not feel that. I don't fear death, I fear after death. This "god" that supposedly exists has never given me any reason to feel him. Follow the bible? F**k that, that bible was written by man, no proof of a holy existance there. I could write a book about a holy bunny and have 16 people believe in it, then thousands of years from now people could see that as religion. I feel it’s the same thing with the bible. I'm scared because I want faith, I wanna feel it, but I can't. I need help. I don't wanna go to church, that shouldn't be neccisary, neither should crying for his help, I've wasted 17 years of my life on that (to him thats not that long, but for me thats more than half my life). Its HIS turn to come to me I think, unless I’m wrong. I just need help, I'm scared, I'm lost, I know not what I do wrong. I'm full of sin, I’m probably destined for hell.....I don't want to be though.

M.....,

I'm sorry I didn't respond quicker to your email. I sense in you what I felt over 13 years ago. If you read the "About Us" section on my web site you’ll see that I too was disillusioned with what I was taught about the Bible. My rational mind couldn't (or wouldn't) believe what appeared to be mythology.

If it couldn't hold up to scrutiny then why believe it. If it made statements that ran contradictory to the known laws of science then it should be discarded. Or if it contradicted itself, then it should be discarded. If there was a world wide flood (Noah and the Ark), then where's the evidence to show that it took place. What about dinosaur's? Does the Bible mention anything about that? How did we get so many different races of people if we all descended from one man (Adam)? How is it that we can see star light from billions of light years away when the Bible says that creation is only about 6000 years old?

In order for me to accept the Bible as truth, it had to give me an answer for these and thousands of other questions. If it couldn't, then why believe it? I might as well go and believe anything I wanted; follow any religion that made me feel good about myself. Maybe one with a holy bunny. (Call it Harveyism. His prophet would be Jimmy Stewart and we would all live a "Wonderful Life".)

A good friend of mine that I've know for years, who is a Buddhist, asked me: What is the purpose of all these "proofs".

He said, "Isn't faith blind?".

I asked him, "Would you let a stranger watch your children?"

He said, "Of course not".

I said, "Why?".

He said, "Because I can't trust them, I don't know them".

I said, "Would you let me watch your children?"

He said, "Yes, I would."

I said, "Why?"

He said, "Because I know you, I can trust you."

I said, "Why do you trust me?"

He said, "Because you've proven yourself worthy to be trusted."

I said, "In other words, you would put your faith in me because I have proven myself to you. I've shown you through my actions that I can trusted. I’ve made promises to you and have kept them. I said I would be there for you and I was. Therefore, your faith in me is not blind; it's based upon proof."

He said, "Oh...I see."

For me and many other Christians, faith is not blind. I would be an extremely gullible person if I just believed in something without proof; without hard core evidence. In fact, if there is no proof for the God of the Bible, then all the Christians around the world are the biggest bunch of fool's this planet has ever seen.

You stated that the Bible was written by man and there was no proof of a holy existence there. Are you sure? If you were like me, you only gave it a cursory glance and then determined it wasn't real. But how far did you go into your examination before you came to that conclusion? I'm guessing that it was only superficial.

You stated that you want faith. Will you give me the opportunity to show you what the Lord has shown me? I know you don't know me; however, if you would like to speak with me, one on one, I would be happy to do that. It can be on neutral ground (i.e. Starbucks, McDonalds, etc.) or over the phone. If you prefer to speak through email that's okay as well. I live in Franklin, IN and my home phone is 317-346-0696. You're more than welcome to give me a call.

I know how you feel. I've felt the same way. For me, I came to the point where it was either put up or shut up.

Thank you for your honest candor. I appreciate that kind of honesty...and so does God.

Call me or reply to this email.

Thank you for the response. I would like to communicate. I live in ***** so abviously I can't come see you.....phone bill might be high too so email would be awesome. Your right, I do want faith, and your also right that I haven't really read too much into the bible. I honestly never wanted to because being that it was written by a human and has been translated, edited and changed so many times over the centuries (the old and new testiments) its hard for me to even consider reading it. I just want to feel the presence that so many claim to feel....I feel so alone, I feel like he's forgotten me if he exists. If I have a guardian Angel, why can't he communicate with me? Its not fair. Why can't god just let us all believe in him. I mean, it was easy for people thousands of years to believe in faith (if the bible facts are true) because it was in your face proof. Tons of people saw the sea split with Moses....the disciples SAW jesus heal someone. Egypt felt AND saw the angel Gabriel strike their newborns and locust sand plague and so forth, so abviously it was easy for them to believe. Our generation hasn't seen any miracles like that....it just leaves me like a blind sheep. I need guidence...yes I would like to communicate. I am an agnostic, which means I neither believe nor deny him...but I'm trying to choose.

Hello M...,

When my wife saw your name she thought that sounded familiar. She asked a friend of hers if she knew "M........" and she said, yes I do...he worked with my husband. However, as it turns out, that was a different M..... here in Indiana.

I'm curious, how did you find my web site? I'm guessing it was through a search engine or something.

I understand your issues with the Bible. I had the same objections. Mine was more alone the lines of: "Well God, if you say your Word is true, then which one is it? There's so many out there and they all say something a little different than the next, so tell me God....which one?" I was being a bit sarcastic at the time.

If I could show you that man did not establish it, nor did he keep it, but God and Him alone, would you be willing to take the time to investigate it? I'm asking you this because most of this will require a commitment on your part to study various resources.

I know you want to feel God; however, you won't "feel" Him if you don't believe in Him. You're not going to believe in Him, if you cannot trust Him. And you won't trust Him, if there's nothing to show you (prove to you) that He is worthy to be trusted.

The Bible says over in Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God". In other words, faith comes by hearing the word of God (the Bible). However, if you cannot trust it, then you cannot go any further. The faith that you're looking for will never be found if you cannot trust in the "thing" through which it comes.

The faith that you see in a Christian comes from a deep rooted trust that they have in Christ. That trust is grounded in evidence. Or as the Bible puts it: "many infallible proofs"

In order for the Bible to be taken seriously there must be a way to establish it's authenticity. It must be demonstrated that it's origins did not originate from men. Not to put words in your mouth, however, I think I can safely say that you believe: If a human engineered the Bible then I won't believe it? If that's true, then I'm in full agreement with you on that statement.

You stated that it was easy for the people in the past to believe because it was in their face. However, did you realize that only 2 people out of the original group that left Egypt went into the promised land. The Bible says they didn't enter in because of unbelief (Heb 3:19) Imagine that. Talk about blowin' it. And there was over a million men (not counting women and children) that left Egypt.

Or, how about when Christ was around. Many people came for the "show" (the miracles). When Christ made it clear to them about what it would take to be His disciple; many left and didn't come back.

Just the same as God had given them the "in your face" type of proof; He has also given that to us. In fact, the apostle Peter said that prophecy was more sure, then an eye witness account (2 Peter 1:19). In fact, evidences that substantiate the Bible have increased a thousand fold in just the last few decades.

If you can afford it I want you to pick up a book called:

Cosmic Codes: Hidden Messages by Chuck Missler

Hardcover: 400 pages ; Dimensions (in inches): 1.54 x 9.28 x 6.44 Publisher: Koinonia House; (March 1999) ISBN: 1578210933

You can go to Amazon to get it: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1578210933/qid=1084569718/sr=8- 1/ref=pd_ka_1/002-4333128-4264825?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Chuck Missler's web site is www.khouse.org

If you cannot afford it, I'll buy it for you and have it shipped to where ever you like. Consider this your first step in finding faith. The language at times can be a bit scholastic; however, it is understandable.

Also, do me a favor and take this simple online test when you've got time: http://www.livingwaters.com/good/

There's some fundamental concepts that you need to understand, and this little test will help in that.

Also, do you have a Bible? If not, then please get one. If you can't afford it, I will get one to you. You can also go to this location to read one online at: http://bible.gospelcom.net/

If you're willing to stick with me, I'll stick with you. This will take time; however, this is the most important question you need to get an answer to.

I'll pray for you and ask the Lord to give you knowledge and understanding on these matters. Also, please don't think you need to check you mind at the door when you study these topics. Be certain to bring it along with you as I'm sure you will. Ask me any question. I may not have it, but I will look for it.

Let's get started.

God Bless,

Jeff S.

P.S. You said in your first letter that you've begged and prayed for Him but got nothing. I must say......He did hear you, because if he didn't, then why are you and I talking? :0)

Romans 10:13-15 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, EXCEPT THEY BE SENT? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Faith, and How Do We Get It.

Before I deliver a message or start a Bible study I ask the Lord to give me confirmation on what to discuss. I asked the Lord if this is what He wanted me to preach on. Your letter confirmed that.

When I'm finished I'll send you my sermon notes.

Can I ask you a question? Do you actually HEAR god talk to you? Or do you just feel him? Is it like Dogma (the movie) where they say if god spoke to you in his true voice your head would explode...cuz if thats the case then I understand him not talking to you. But if thats also the case, do the Serephim talk to you? I wish we could hear their voice, just once....

M.....,

You ask some challenging questions, I like that. Sorry I didn't immediately get back to you. The simple answer to your question is yes. But, for me, it has come through prayer, through other Christians, through circumstances and especially through studying the Bible. Discernment takes time, and I'm no expert.

Through the Bible I've learned the nature and character of God; and He will never give you an answer to a question that runs contradictory to His Word.

There are times when I will "put out a fleece". That's an expression based on what Gideon did in the Bible when he wanted confirmation from God.

Judges 6:36-40 36 And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said, 37 Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. 38 And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. 39 And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. 40 And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.

As you can tell, Gideon wanted to be absolutely sure that he understood what God was telling Him to do. I did this once, and only once, when I needed guidance from the Lord. My wife and I felt led by the Lord to return to the church I grew up in. To be honest with you I didn't want to go back. However, the more we prayed, the more we felt led to return back there. I wanted to be sure of this so I asked the Lord to have somebody in our current church to come up and tell us "this" or "that". Within a few weeks somebody we respect in the church came up to me and told me what we needed to hear. Which was that we needed to return to the church of my youth. The church that we were at didn’t want us to leave, however, they too felt the Lord was calling us into another congregation.

The Lord always works through the Body of Christ (true believers). When the apostles felt led of the Lord to go somewhere they took it to fellow believers to pray about it before they went.

If I was you, I wouldn't focus so much on visions, audible voices, dreams, etc. When you look at the time span involved within the Bible, you will notice that visions, dreams, and so forth didn't happen all that often. Now, I'm not saying that they don't happen anymore; however, God has given us better evidences than these things.

The reason you need to be careful when looking for these things is because, God’s enemy, which is Satan, can manifest himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). He is capable of masquerading as a benevolent force.

The apostle Peter talked about his experience on the mount of transfiguration (When Jesus was transformed into His full glory and sat with Moses and Elijah - Matthew 17; Mark 9). Peter stated that even though he was an eye witness to such an incredible event; there was something that was even better than that; Prophecy (2 Peter 1:16-21).

The reason why prophecy is better than visions or dreams or eye witness accounts is because only God can see the end from the beginning; Satan can not.

Isaiah 46:9-10 9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

Only the Bible, out of all the "holy" books, contains predictive prophecy. The book of Daniel had so much predictive prophecy, that many critics tried to "late date" the book. It was so accurate that, for the critics, the only logical answer was that it was written after the fact. Unfortunately for them, the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls proved the authenticity and the accuracy of the prophecies of the Bible. I hope that answers your question.

God Bless, Jeff

actually, that did clear up a few of my thoughts. Hmmmm....you say that you prayed for God to have someone from your old church prove your feelings, that god wanted you to return to the old church, and then a few weeks later someone did. Most would call that a coincidence. Do you think that coincidences are actually prayers being answered? Also, since you brought up satan (I'm sorry for this) but it has sprang up a whole new set of questions, heh. I've always wondered, if God is Satan's enemy, and Satan is God's enemy, and God is supposedly the most powerful of anything, why doesn't he destroy satan? Why does hell exist? Don't you think it's a little harsh to send someone who committed sins in a temporary life to be sent to an ETERNAL pain realm? Don't you think they would learn their lesson in at least 100 years time in hell? But eternity? Thats soooo horribly harsh in my opinion. God is suppose to love us, forgive us...but he would do that kind of thing to us? It sounds like god need's a hug lol, no offense to the big guy up there. But yeah, why doesn't he destroy hell and the devil?

M....,

These are some very good questions, and we will get to all of them; however, if you can, lets try to take it one step at a time. I promise you, we will get to all of them. Like my mom would always say; "Patience is a virtue". When I was little I thought patience meant a painful agonizing experience. To some degree that still holds true.

You're right, some would call that a coincidence. Many critics will say that certain things that happened in the Bible were coincidence. However, as the Jews say; "Coincidence is not a kosher word".

I appreciate your objections, they will play a vital part in your discernment of all this stuff.

Have you gone through that little online test yet? When you have let me know.

God Bless, Jeff

**************************************************************************************

I sent a second email after the one above.

**************************************************************************************

M...,

I wanted to quickly throw some things at you that you will learn later on. I'll just throw these points out very quickly. I'm sorry I don't have time to expound on each of these. I'm at work and its lunch time so I don't have much time.

1. God doesn't want anyone to perish but all come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

This verse also shows that God is being patient with us; waiting for us to come to repentance.

2. God's grace that brings salvation has gone out to everyone.

Titus 2:11 -  11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Ephesians 2:8-9 - 8 For by GRACE are ye saved through FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Grace means unmerited favor. In other words, we don’t deserve it. It is not of our efforts (works) that we obtain salvation.

3. God's Word which brings faith in Him has gone out to the entire world.

Romans 10:17-18 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

The bottom line is that God doesn't want anyone to go to Hell. That was never His desire; however, if you want someone to willfully choose to love you, you also have to give them the option to not love you. God has given us the freewill to choose Him or to deny Him. However, denial comes with a price.

Also, God didn't wait for us to come to Him, He came to us first.

Romans 5:8 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

He has not denied us, but many have denied Him. Hell exists because God is just. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23). Wages is something you've earned; like wages at work. Therefore we've earned death by sinning. And the death referred to is eternal separation from God in Hell.

In order to understand Hell, it's existence, and why it's eternal, you must understand God's righteousness. We may think that our sins are petty and only deserve a short sentence; however, they must be seen from God's perspective and not ours.

Telling one lie to us may seem petty; however, the Bible says that even if you break the smallest matter of the Law you're guilty of the whole thing.

James 2:10-11 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

His standard of righteousness is so high, that no one can reach it. No one is good. When you take that online test (http://www.livingwaters.com/good/), you'll see what I mean.

Psalms 14:2-3 2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. 3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Isaiah 64:6 6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

The good things that we do (our righteousness) are like a filthy rag to God. The phrase "filthy rag" is referring to a used menstrual cloth. Our goodness, or righteousness, is nothing to be compared to His. We cannot meet His standards. We've broken His Law (the Ten Commandments). (Again, the online test will show you that.)

That's why we need Jesus, who was made sin for us, to take away our sins and make us righteous before God.

2 Corinthians 5:21 21 For he hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

I know I'm quoting a lot from the Bible, which (currently) you feel was written by men. However, if (just if), if the Bible was written by God, then you'll need to seriously consider all these things.

I hope I haven't driven you away with all of this. I know you have a ton of questions and I hope I can answer them for you. But again...like mom always says; "Patience is a virtue".

Not to harp on this point (which was what my message was about on Sunday); but, God has given us evidence both within us and outside of us to show that He desperately wants us to come to Him. He's begging and pleading for us to respond to Him by accepting the sacrifice He made for us. We don't have to work to get it; but to first, repent of our sins, and then put our faith (trust) in Jesus Christ. Because there is no other way to heaven the Bible says.

John 14:6 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:10-12 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

God pulled out all the stops and gave us His best, His Highest to pay for our sins. When you realize the price that was paid for your sins, you'll then fully realize how terrible and retched your sins really are. Then you’ll understand why Hell is the way it is.

If I could put this into financial terms; if I understand you correctly, you see your sins as only carrying a debt load of say; 1 billion dollars. Its a large debt; but one that can be paid. However, God sees your sins as being more than all of creation. Your debt is eternal; it must be paid with a perfect payment; an eternal payment. When Christ died on the cross, His last words were: It is finished.

John 19:30 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

In the Greek, the phrase, it is finished is one word (teleo {tel-eh'-o}); which means paid in full. Meaning a debt was paid in full, or discharged. Only God could pay the debt that was owed for your sins. He didn’t pay with gold, or silver, or the blood of calves and goats, but His own blood. He became a man, (God was manifest in the flesh 1 Tim 3:16), so that He could redeem us from our own sins. God established the method of payment for sins to be the shedding of blood.

Hebrews 9:22 22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. 23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

The Old Testament sacrificial system pointed to Jesus Christ. A good example of this was the Passover lamb that was sacrificed at Passover. John the Baptist said of Christ in John 1:29b; Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. The Passover lambs pointed to our Passover sacrifice, Jesus Christ, that took away our sins.

1 Corinthians 5:7 7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Well so much for making this just a quick note. I wish I could just give you a brain dumb and let you think about everything the Lord has shown me. I’ve seen so much of His evidence that in the beginning it was coincidental to me. But now, there’s to much there to pass off as mere happenstance.

We’ll talk again.

God Bless, Jeff

M...,

If you were to die tonight; where would you go? I understand that you’re busy, but death doesn't care what you've got planned for the future. It comes without warning and unannounced.

I hope that you'll take the time to really consider this issue. You'll be dead a lot longer than you will be alive. I'm not telling you this to scare you (yet that might be the outcome); I'm telling you this because I don't want you to be lost in hell.

Please reconsider. Don't worry...I won't hound you with an unwarranted amount of email; but I will check in on you now and again.

Again...please reconsider.

God Bless, Jeff

thats true. Can I ask a question? Doesn't God understand the reality of this faith situation? Can't he understand that I'm a guy trying to understand faith, if thats the case wouldn't he be forgiving enough that if I happened to die without accepting him into my heart, he could give me a chance? Since I'm not denying him, infact I'm begging for his light, wouldn't he let it slide? If not, that sounds like a very strict father there...heh.

I sent you a reply to your questions below. Did you get that one? I usually send a copy to my home email account; however, I didn't receive it. So I was wondering if you got it.

Thanks, Jeff

M....,

Well shoot...I really put some time into that one. I'll just start from the beginning I guess.

God doesn't want anyone to be lost and He is very patience with us by waiting for us to repent.

2 Peter 3:9 says: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

To put it in a more modern tongue, here it is in the New Living Translation:

The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise to return, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to perish, so he is giving more time for everyone to repent.

I think that is more direct and to the point of your question about God giving you a chance.

God obviously understands the issue of faith. Remember that faith in essence is trust. God has given us a number of things by which we can trust Him. He's given us evidence in creation to know that He exists and that He is the creator of all things. He's given us evidence from history and archeology to know that His Word can be validated. He's given us a conscience to know right and wrong. He's given us predictive prophecy to know that the origin of His Word did not come from men. He's given us His Word and preserved it to know Him personally. He's given us a void in our lives that is meant to cause us to search for Him in the hope that we will find Him (This is what you are currently experiencing).

God understands that you are trying to sort all of this out. He made you. He knows every hair upon you head (Matt 10:30), and every thought that passes through your mind (1 Cor 3:20).

You said in your responce that you're "begging for his light". Listen to the words of Jesus in John 8:12;

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Over and over again...Jesus Christ is shown to be the light that you're begging for:

Matthew 4:16-17 16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

John 1:1-8 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

The light that you are begging for is knocking at the door of your heart. Jesus said in Revelation 3:20

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

I'm not sure if you have yet received the book I recommended; however, you might also want to begin reading in the Gospel of John. This is a good place to start to find out who Jesus was. For it says in John 20:31

"But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name."

(If you don't have a Bible you can read one online at http://www.biblegateway.com/)

God certainly has let a number of things slide for a time. However, there will come a time when that will all end and Judgment will begin. God is strict when it comes to His Law (the Ten Commandments). James 2:10 says;

"For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."

How many laws do you have to break before the police come after you? Just one. If you've told one lie, that is enough to kick you out of heaven. In fact, God would be justified in doing so.

However, God in his infinite grace and mercy made a way for you. He doesn't want to loose you. 1 Peter 1:18 says;

"Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation (conduct) received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"

God pulled out all the stops and gave His best for you. He knew you could not meet the requirements of His Holy Law, so God is His infinite love for you (1 John 4:8b says; ...God is love) sacrificed God the Son to take your place. "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." (2 Corinthians 5:21)

God cannot let His Law slide; however, He has made a way through Jesus Christ who kept the Law. Jesus said in Matthew 5:17;

"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."

Therefore His righteousness (sinlessness) is imputed (credited) to those that believe on Him.

When you repent of your sins (forsake them and turn away from them) and receive Jesus Christ as your redeemer, by not only believing, but by putting your full faith (trust) in Him, you will then pass from death to life (John 5:24) and your sins will no longer be counted against you. They are nailed to the cross.

Colossians 2:13-14 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened (made alive) together with him (Jesus CHrist), having forgiven you all trespasses (sins); 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us (His judgement against you), which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Once you do that you will be declared righteous (made right) in the sight of God. Then you will receive the Holy Spirit, which will guide you and conform you to the image of Christ. You will be declared a child of God and will inherit the Kingdom to come.

Jesus Christ is the light you are begging for. I love you friend and I hope that you will receive the Light that God has made available to you by asking Him into your life. There's nothing special to it. Just admit that you've broken His law, but you want to receive the payment that Christ made for you on the cross. Then read your Bible daily and ask God to put you into fellowship with other Christians so that you may grow in knowledge and wisdom.

I hope to see you in heaven some day. I know that we did not meet by accident. You are one of a few people I know that has a strong desire to know the truth. Many walk in darkness and enjoy staying there. But you are seeking the truth. Christ said in John 14:6; "...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

God Bless you friend. I'm here for you.

In Christ, Jeff
