No Other Name

 by David Scott

The Bible makes several absolute declarations, which should never be forgotten if we are to keep our theology from being corrupted by error.  The need to protect our faith from error is clearly expressed in 1 Tim. 4:12 and 2 Thes. 2:11.  The first reference predicts that some Christians in the end times will become apostate through the influence of seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.  The second cite reveals that strong delusion is a judgment from God upon people, who have no love for the truth because they prefer unrighteousness.

Gal. 1:6-9 contains a similar warning by explaining how the gospel can be perverted by preaching a different Jesus under the influence of another spirit.  This is the biblical definition of a cult.  Thus, for our faith to be solidly based upon the truth of God's Word, we must know Who Jesus really is, not what apostate preachers fancy Him to be.  We must also know the proper protocol for approaching His throne of grace so that our worship, praise, and prayers are not rejected like strange fire (Lev. 10:1).

Every chapter of John's first epistle reveals information about Jesus, which is essential for our salvation.  For example, ch. 1:6 shows how foolish it is to claim that we have fellowship with God if we are walking in darkness.  Ch. 1:7 states that His blood can only cleanse us from sin if we walk in the light.  Confessing our sins and admitting our sinfulness are necessary to walk in the light (ch.1:8-10).  In ch. 2:22 we see how important it is to believe that Jesus is the Christ and the Son of God.  Ch. 3:5 proves that in Him is no sin.  Ch. 4:15 & 5:1 repeat the importance of confessing that Jesus is the Son of God and believing that Jesus is the Christ in order to be born of God.

Jesus Himself said that no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of God (John 3:3-8).  Jesus also said, "No one can come to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6).  Thus, anyone, who does not believe that Jesus is the Christ, is not in the kingdom of God.  Neither is anyone, who does not believe that Jesus is the Son of God, in the kingdom of God.  No one outside God's kingdom can have access to His grace or His power until they repent and believe the truths outlined above.  Everyone outside God's kingdom is actually under the control of Satan (Acts 26:18 and Eph. 2:2).

The apostle Peter expressed this truth similarly in Acts 4:10-12.  Peter concluded by emphasizing, "...there is no other name under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved."  Jesus Christ is the only One through Whom God provides salvation to sinful mankind.  If anyone seeks salvation through the name of any other religious figure (Peter, Buddha, Krishna, Mohammed, Gaia, Sophia, etc.), they are actually trying to steal their way into God's kingdom (John 10:1).

My reason for expressing the above truths is because some prominent preachers like Robert Schuller and David Cho have been teaching that unsaved people can appropriate God's power for healing and miracles if they apply certain cosmic laws.  However, God is not a cosmic butler.  Nor is He a cosmic Santa Claus.  He is holy, and He can only be approached through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ (Heb. 10:19).

The notions some people have about cosmic laws actually come from the occult, which is really a disguised form of satanism.  Cosmic laws are the ways through which people open themselves up to demonic power, not God's power.  I learned this the hard way when I was involved in the occult myself between 1960-66.  It took repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to break the power of Satan over my life.  I had no access to God's grace or power until after I entered His kingdom.  I did not enter His kingdom until I was born again.  I was not born again until I repented and believed the truth of the gospel.

Therefore, anyone, who claims to appropriate God's power without repentance and regeneration, is deceived.  Anyone, who claims that cosmic laws operate within the kingdom of God, is also deceived.  Cosmic laws only operate within the kingdom of darkness.  God declares all occultism an abomination (Deut. 18:9-12).  Occultists are children of the devil (Acts 13:6-10).  Therefore, when preachers of the gospel promote doctrines of devils, they've become apostate.  Heeding such preachers will lead you into apostasy also.

God only answers prayers that are requested in Jesus' name (John 15:16; 16:23&24).  Genuine miracles can only be performed in Jesus' name (Mark 9:39; Acts 4:30).  Demons must be cast out in Jesus' name (Mark 16:17; Acts 16:18).  Healing can only be performed in Jesus' name (Mark 16:17&18; Acts 3:6).  We are justified only in Jesus' name (1 Cor. 6:11).  We are also to be baptized in Jesus' name (Acts 2:38; 10:48; 19:5).  Thus, everything we do should be done in His name (Col. 3:17).

Please do not misunderstand me on this issue.  I am not a Jesus Only teacher.  I am merely stressing the importance of approaching the Father in Jesus' name.  No one can be rightly related to the Father apart from also being rightly related to His Son, Jesus Christ.  No one can receive His grace and power without entering His kingdom.  No one can enter His kingdom without being born again.  No one can be born again without believing that Jesus is the Christ and the Son of God.  There is no other name under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved.  Cosmic laws can never negate the proper protocol of approaching the Father in Jesus' name.

Spirit Wars by Peter Jones, Occult Invasion by Dave Hunt, and Satanic Revival by Rev. Mark Bubeck.  Gary Kah produced a video, which is distributed by Sid Roth, that also documents the Pope’s involvement with the Dali Lama and other pagan leaders to merge Christianity with their religions.  Part of this video was filmed at the Vatican by RC leaders in an effort to make this idea sound good to undiscerning and ignorant Christians.  Thus, it is not an effort by Gary Kah and Sid Roth to make the Catholics look bad.  It contains what the Catholics themselves are saying to justify this heresy.
